Country music star Carrie Underwood will come to Broomfield on June 3 for a show at the 1stBank Center.

The announcement was made Monday by AEG Live, a concert promoter that, along with Kroenke Sports Enterprises, manages the arena through its partnership Peak Entertainment.

Peak took over management of the center last year, and has aims on making the once-struggling venue a hot spots for concerts. It is spending more than $1.3 million to renovate the center to make it more concert-friendly — $500,000 of which was contributed by Broomfield, which owns the center.

The center’s grand re-opening will be March 5 and 6, when Furthur — a collaboration of Phil Lesh and Bob Weir, two of the founding members of the Grateful Dead — performs. Also on the bill for the center are Muse and Silversun Pickups in an April 6 show.

Underwood is touring in support of her latest album, “Play On.” She will be joined by opening acts Craig Morgan and Sons of Sylvia.

Tickets for Underwood’s show go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday and can be purchased online at TicketHorse.com or by phone at 866-461-6556.

Underwood is a past American Idol winner, has won multiple Grammy awards and has had several No. 1 hits on the country charts.
